How will you teach your 10 year old kid the fundamentals in financial skills?

I have a 10 year old kid & its time for him to learn about money. The subject of money is not taught in school & so its left up to us as parents. I have though of a three step process which I will share with you here to solicit your views & opinions.

Step 1. I have started him with a very small pocket money. This is an important step, he is now custodian to responsibility. We as parents are trusting him with little money & as he learns to handle little money he will them be able to handle more money.

One important reason I am allowing him to handle his own cash is that he has to feel the power & excitement that "cash in hand" offers!

One more reason, If I can get him to feel he is responsible for his money he will stop depending on us for his small financial requirements. Which in turn will make him self dependent for his financial needs as an adult & he will learn not to depend on a paycheck.

This is my opinion that every earning adult come up to this stage.

Step 2. Once he is comfortable with the cash he is now managing, I have to teach him the value of keeping records. So we will have a small book where he can note down his income and expense, his balance sheet.

There is an important lesson I wish to teach him. Accounting is where normal people fail, they receive and spend a lot of money in their lifetime & still end up broke or tight at savings. Its not their ability to earn money, rather its their inability to learn, correct or leverage their income & expenditure patterns. It is good accounting practice that really give you these insights. Accounting is your financial history from where you can learn to build your future.

Its my opinion that people through excellent & disciplined accounting practices reach the state of self-employment, like consultants, doctors, small business owners & small investors.

Step 3. The power to dream, focus & the determination to accomplish his dream. I know that the wealthiest people never worked for money.

Greetings,

This is my first attempt to answer any LinkedIn questions, so here it goes. The disclaimer is that this is my view point and you have the choice not to accept it.

The title to your question is "I'm searching for new challenges" This got my attention. On further reading it was apparent to me that you are looking for a job change. I am a business recruiter and so here is my view point.

Let me give you a short answer and then a long answer.

Another job will become interesting and challenging albeit for a short while. You need to give yourself something more, like a business venture.

Now for my long answer and let me thank you for really reading through in advance.

Another job is like another girlfriend. Its exciting and there is romance and passion. For a short period after which mostly people drift apart.

A business venture is more like a marriage. Its not perfect, actually it is more imperfect and sometimes painful and boring. But your resolve and determination to keep it together makes you adjust, change and adapt. Its a very long haul.

Having said that let me dwell a bit more about my view of a business.

According to Robert Kiyosaki of the Rich Dad fame, a business is defined with just two parameters. One, you need to have an organization of more than 500 people. Two, take a break of 6 months from your business and still that venture should be profitable equally or more than when you were at it.

Which business venture? Any thing that pleases your aptitude and more importantly fulfills the above two conditions.

A job typically earns you money. Your objective should be to create wealth which a business venture assists you to achieve.

What is wealth?

Robert Kiyosaki gives a fantastic definition of wealth.

Stop working just now and calculate for how long you can live maintaining your current living standard.

Thats the wealth you have created uptill now. So simple!

To sum-up here is the formula to achieve financial freedom. Financial freedom is where you stop working for money.

Convert all your available cash to Assets.
The Asset earns you Passive Income.
When the passive income becomes greater than your expenses.
You have achieved Financial Freedom.

I will invite you to watch a 71 slide presentation about "Time is Money" principle at my virtual home.

Best wishes my friend and I really hope that my answer has added value to your life. Hope to interact with you if you accept this brief explanation.

Hello Friends,

I am Prashant Bhekare a student of MJ Rajore with graphology level 3 under my belt. I am a die-hard follower of MJ Rajore. I live and work at Borivali in Mumbai. Here is my story…

When I was a child, we had subscribed to Readers Digest and they had sent us a very small booklet introducing graphology as a gift. That was my introduction to graphology. The information was very sparse I barely learned anything but it was enough to whet my appetite for the subject of graphology.

One day in the Times of India, there was an article of MJ Rajore a graphology teacher and how instead of talking about graphology, he had very accurately analyzed the handwriting of the reporter. She was all-gaga over MJ Rajore and his ability to analyze handwriting, this got my attention -reporters are really hard to please. The reading further I found out that MJ Rajore was teaching in Mumbai.

With all my ignorance about handwriting analysis, I had a list of questions. When I reached Antonio De'Silva High School, there was a queue and quite a few people had already taken their seats inside the lecture room. Looking at the rush and a queue for registration, my curiosity got better of me over my questions. I paid up my 3000/- and was admitted to the first level in graphology. I was handed my folder and was asked to write about 2 pages about myself in general. Thus began my life-long quest to learn graphology.

Friends, when MJ Rajore teaches it is not class, it's an event. Having done Pharmacy and Finance management, I know for sure that in a learning class you just listen and assimilate knowledge. When MJ Rajore teaches, he changes you as a person; so it's an event, a life-changing event.

You walk into the graphology class as a person, ball of emotions, a cache of past experiences and an opinion about yourself, which is mostly made-up by your environment of family friends and well-wishers. You come out as a human being, completely understanding yourself and mostly at peace with yourself.

This happens because MJ Rajore does not just teach graphology but also shows you, why you are the way you are, you may know about yourself but do you know why? This is an experience, which makes many of us die-hard followers of MJ Rajore. So graphology taught by MJ Rajore is different from so many books and pseudo-graphology experts. He takes you beyond the lines, the loops and the curves…

I wish to share my life-changing experience.

Friends, all my life due to the limits of my environment, I was told that I was an average guy (budhu-ram to be precise). I believed my environment of family, friends and well-wishers and lived such a life. I scored badly in school and I was the average next-door nice guy you forgot about immediately and really lived an insignificant life with a bleak future. No self-image, no self-respect, no confidence and so many other no's.

But this had to change cause I was in class with MJ Rajore.

On the last day of your course, after the exams and when the group events are over, MJ Rajore hands you, your graphology class certificate by calling your name, he will just glance at your own first sample of handwriting - this is the only time he will actually analyze your handwriting. He will comment upon it as he hands over your certificate and your handwriting sample.

Friends, MJ Rajore called my hand writing good and said I had the best chance for success. A person swimming in an ocean of negative needs just a ray of hope.

I believed in MJ Rajore, his ability as a graphologist and his unbiased analysis of everyone. The simple statement, that I was good changed how I looked at myself. The newfound confidence that he gave me people, my life took a real U turn.

In my family my wife and sister both have learned graphology under MJ Rajore and let me tell you, I have the maximum benefit as we have a common system of graphology to understand one another and everyone in the family. Plus, when I had issues with my wife, graphologically she has excellent handwriting so I cannot complain but only adjust to keep up with a good wife.

Friends, I do not claim MJ Rajore did magic in my life and that he has some halo over his head that his association will change your naseeb. I was already good and he just confirmed that and he gave me tools and insights into my own personality through handwriting analysis. In my heart I always knew that I was good and that god, through me wanted to get a lot of things accomplished.

Today, I am materially very successful and operate my 6 family businesses. We had just one before I learned graphology. I have my own IT Company and am creating Internet Realty through Bhagwati.biz. I plan to retire by the age of 37 and follow Robert Kiyosaki who is my financial guru and have recently (07 Apr 07) been featured in the Times of India for organizing Cashflow Meetups. The link to that article is given at the end of this write-up. I lead and organize Graphology Meetup in Mumbai.

I am also the self appointed Webmaster to MJRajore.com website, the SysOp for the Graphology learning resource and Admin Person for the online IGPS office. I am MJ Rajore taught Graphology evangelist and so ask every person I know to learn graphology from MJ Rajore.

You can know all about me and interact with me through my virtual home at Bhekare.net

Thank you for your time and have a very nice day.

Hello Friends,

There is good news to share with you. Times of India covered our Cashflow Meetup event.

The Title of the article is "The Get-Rich-Fast Club" with a beautiful subtitle "I am no longer happy to be know as the silent, struggling worker"

The Times correspondent did catch the spirit of my activities right.

You must read this interesting article from the link given below.

http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Repository/TOIM/2007/04/07/TOIM_2007_4_7_11.pdf

This article appeared in the Times of India in Mumbai on 7th Sat on page 11, also in Delhi and Nagpur on the 8th of April.

Now to fill you in with the details...

In the year of 2003, I got the opportunity to read a book called Rich Dad Poor Dad written by Robert Kiyosaki. This book shook my business foundation and shifted my paradigm about money, wealth and business forever.

This book told me explicitly, that I was not a business owner but a self-employed person who just like a salaried person in a job cannot ever become wealthy. Friends you must read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad to find out why!

Thus began my quest to own and operate a business. Now I needed training and the Rich Dad book stated that the education system fails to develop financial skills. It’s not your circle of friends who can teach you either, cause if they knew anything about finance they would not be your friends! I did not know anyone in a real business, willing to mentor me and share all the secrets of success.

So my only fall back was more books, so I read the Cashflow Quadrant, Guide to Investing and Business School by the same author. But books can only frustrate you further, more knowledge and no application equals to more frustration.

Then on the RichDad.com website, I found out about the board game Cashflow. It was in three parts, Cashflow 101, Cashflow 202 and Cashflow for Kids. What did I do?

I purchased all the three board games, paid 33% customs duty plus FedEx cost and ended up spending 32,000/-. You think I am crazy, to spend 32,000/- on a mere board game! My family surely thought so and they refused to even take a look at the game, participation was a distant dream. Now I was in a real fix, no family participation means no board game means no learning the financial principles.

Friends, there is a stubborn streak in me, if I know for sure that I am on the right path, I will stick to my decision. So I decided to play the Cashflow Board game on my own. There in my search for like-minded people, I found the Meetup.com website which organized local events and got together people with similar interests to meet face to face. Thus, I became a Cashflow meetup organizer on 1st Feb 2003.

The Cashflow Meetup Group and the Cashflow Board game have since become my mentor and friends. We have had so many Cashflow events and interacted with numerous individuals and that has given me a unique insight about how people from different quadrants behave differently with respect to the subject of wealth.

Thanks to Robert Kiyosaki's teachings, I have three plans, my secure, comfort and rich plan. More about that at Bhekare.net my virtual home and office.

I got my self enrolled into Private Franchising business and created the RoyaltyIncome.org website to share what I got to know about Time being your greatest asset. Do read through that website using an Internet Explorer as it is a Microsoft Power Point presentation.

Later on, I floated my Internet Realty Company Bhagwati.biz and created my first project, the ChannelPartner.us and Channel Partner Program for people who wanted to move from being Dependent (to a Job) to becoming Independent (Self Employed) to becoming Interdependent (Business owner). I am proud to associate with more than 3500+ like minded individuals nationally and internationally.

My Internet Realty company has massive projects in pipeline like Davabazar, Local Samachar, United Lending Network, Householdgold, Site n Ideas, Zaveribazar and so many more...

I am a trained graphologist and handwriting expert under MJ Rajore of MJRajore.com and do charity through The Bhagwati Community Center via TheBCCHub.org website.

We are truly blessed to be in good company. The future is really bright and I am excited to associate with you.

It’s my mission to help millions of people achieve Financial Freedom and my ultimate goal in life is to go back to Godhead. Have a very nice day.

Friends,

The blast occurred in Borivali and I live and work opposite Bhagwati Municipal hospital. The drama of life is an every day event for us. We see too much of pain and misery, but yesterday it was the climax of all.

Friends, the fury of the blast has not only killed a few 100 people, they have handicapped a lot many more. People who die are forgotten but people with disabilities are living memories.
The hospital view was so bad, so many people hurt dead and dying. People, you will have to experience it to believe what we have felt. There were people hurt and there were more people out to help. It was mind blowing.

My sister along with many local doctors came forward to help out, they did what ever they could and it was exhausting, people from all walks of life came forward to help, to donate blood, to fund medical expenses and do anything they were needed to do.

Shilpa also helped people with the broken bones and she managed to donate about 40+ splints that she had in stock to support the fractures.

We called numerous families about death or injury.

I am not ok. My mind is in pain with all the memories I carry with me and giving help is my salvation. I know I helped people in my small way. I know if and when another such event may occur I will be there to help.

We are a democratic country. A new definition of democracy is now in place. That is do not wait for the government to act, you are the government. When you see a problem jump in get the job done and go away without expecting any recognitions or thank you. This is the new face of India. There were thousands of us there, we run this country. Come join us. Welcome to a New India.

Prashant Bhekare.
